Tragic! Trailer driver, conductor escape ghastly accident in Akwa Ibom (photos)
Just few hours ago, it was reported that a man driving a trailer loaded with gravel and his assistant or conducted as fondly called were involved in a ghastly accident near a market in Calabar.
It was reported that the accident took place on Friday morning, June 2, when the trailer crashed on Itu Highway, near Itam Market, Akwa Ibom.
This incident was reported by Henshaw Nyong via his Facebook profile, as he posted several pictures of the accident scene with the caption:

“SCORES, including a driver and his assistant, popularly called conductor, narrowly escaped death on Friday, when a trailer conveying gravel, crashed on Calabar - Itu Highway, near Itam Market in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The TOWN CRIER reporter, who witnessed the crash, reports that the incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. However, this is coming less than 24 hours after another road accident, which claimed lives of 2 policemen attached to the Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Nsima Ekere.

In Friday's accident, the trailer with Lagos Commercial number plate; SMK- 852- XL, was driving towards Itam Market, when the driver suddenly lost control, tumbling down and spilling its contents on the road. The driver and his assistant succeeded in jumping out of the moving vehicle before the crash but sustained major injuries. The traumatize driver, who refused to disclose his identity to The TOWN CRIER, attributed the accident to brake failure. The trailer blocked the busy expressway resulting in a traffic gridlock that lasted several minutes, even after our reporter left the scene."
