Kelechi Iheanacho Drags Manchester Lawyers To Court Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, is suing two lawyers from the Manchester area, over image rights. The Super Eagles star claims he was lured into signing over rights to his name by Robert Zanicky of Drums and Raymond Hassay of Exeter. Iheanacho met with Zanicky in 2013 when he was 16, after the lawyer approached him following the 2013 African U-17 Championships. The player’s father signed an agreement in July 2013 with Zanicky. The contract, which was signed for $1,000, gave Zanicky, Hassay and their agency, First Eleven Management, image rights to Iheanacho. Insight- See How Nigeria’s Football Federation Mismanaged N251M From FIFA FIFA has revealed it discovered “circumstances, which may indicate or lead to misuse of funds” which total $801,229 (N251,514,000m at bank rate of 314 naira to one dollar). The discovery was contained in the report on the 2015 review on the use of FIFA Development Funds which was carried out by audit firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The report which was obtained by Sahara Reporters, FIFA said it detected that the sum of $801,229 was spent by the NFF without evidence supporting the disbursement. In review, FIFA said the use of FIFA Development Funds could not be traced to supporting documentation or the use aligned with FIFA-prescribed purposes) or other non-compliance with FIFA regulations. FIFA Tells NFF To Return Cash They Can’t Account For World football governing body FIFA have warned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will refund any cash paid to them for football development they could not account for. This followed a rash of queries raised by FIFA over the $801,229 development grant they paid the NFF. The review was done between August 16 to 18, 2016.The audit by PricewaterhouseCoppers (PwC) said the money was spent without supporting documentation, like receipts, invoices and contracts. FIFA have therefore warned that if the NFF could not provide adequate supporting documentation for the disbursements, it should make refund on sums unaccounted for. They also expressed displeasure with the unrestrained practice of cash payments, which they maintained should have been greatly minimized.
