JUST IN: New group emerges in PDP as Sheriff and Makarfi battle hard
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) now has a third faction with the emergence of the ‘True PDP National Movement’ but with the aim of coming up with a way forward for the crisis-ridden party.
The Nigerian Tribune reports that at its meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Thursday, February 2, the group vowed to counter the alleged propaganda embarked upon by the government of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

A communiqué released by the group after the meeting and signed by its chairman, Abdulahi Aliyu Babawo, and the secretary, Efiedi Nkonko, it said its members acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the founding fathers of the PDP “in forming a formidable political party that has continuously served the interest and aspirations of the Nigerian people.”
It added: “The meeting after extensive deliberations agreed to sensitise and mobilise the Nigerian people towards the good works of the party over the years and to reject the negative propaganda embarked upon by the ruling party to tarnish the hard earned reputation of the party.”
The group commended former President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP leaders and stakeholders in helping to create peace in the party.

The group reportedly asked its zonal leaders to evolve strategies to improve the party in their zones taking into consideration the peculiarities in such area.
