According to reports, a Qur’anic School teacher in Kurna Babban Layi area of Kano has concluded his plans to marry off his 13-year-old daughter, Bilkisu, to his 56-year-old friend.

In a bid to reveal the man's plans to give out his underage daughter, one of his relatives took her to the Freedom Radio office in Sharada, Kano state, where they went ahead to roll out a campaign against him.

The relative pleaded for an intervention from the Emir of Kano and the Kano state governor, asking them to help stop the marriage that is supposed to hold on Friday, December 30.

The relative said:

"The groom has three wives, many children and grandchildren. I am appealing to Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi and governor of Kano to help intervene.”

The man is reportedly planning to marry off another one of his young daughters on the same day he plans to give Bilikisu away.
