Confirming the arrest, Ogun state police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Matthew Elegbede had attacked the deceased in his apartment on Monday, June 21, after another tenant raised an alarm because of his presence.
The deceased had come out to find out why his neighbour raised an alarm, only for Matthew to pounce him. Oyeyemi said:
“The deceased then came out to challenge the audacity of Matthew to come into his house uninvited. Matthew was said to have run away only for him to return with his elder brother, armed with a cutlass in which they used to inflict injuries on the deceased which resulted in his death."
The case has been transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department in Abeokuta, pending further investigations.
