The youth arm of the ruling party has therefore called for the leaders of APDA to be arrested for alleged intellectual theft.

The group in a statement on Tuesday, June 6, by its national secretary, Collins Edwin, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de-register the new party for breaching intellectual property law.

It alleged that the logo of the party was stolen from Star Lager Beer, one of the popular brands owned by the Nigerian Breweries PLC.

It asked why a political party that seeks to take over the government at the centre can't come up with a logo not registered by any company in Nigeria.

The group said: "Their action is a testament that they have nothing new to offer to Nigerians other than recycling corruption using new political platform.

“Therefore, as a frontline youths wing of the ruling party, we believe that it is our duty to protect all Nigerians including their intellectual properties from any form of attack or encroachments.”

“To avoid facing the anger of the World Intellectual Property Organisation and other multilateral institutions like the World Trade Organisation which Nigeria is a member, we are calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security organisations in Nigeria to as a matter of urgency deregister the new party as well as arrest it’s leaders for breaching the intellectual property laws of Nigeria.

The APC youths warned that will be forced to seek redress in the court on behalf of the Nigerian Breweries PLC if the authorities fail to address the issue within the stipulated time frame enshrined in Nigerian laws.

NAIJ.com recalls the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), was been officially launched in Abuja on Monday, June 5.

The new party which has been talked about in political circles for a while, made several promises to Nigerians ahead of 2019 general elections.

A chieftain of the party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu announced that the party will carry along all segments of the society in its dealings.
