Not many 11-year-old kids take on such weighty missions as helping to fighting hunger. This is exactly what Austin King Hurt, a boy from Indianapolis in the US, has taken on.
Known as the Young Urban Gardener, Austin is teaching his city and the world how to plant food right in their backyard gardens to supplement their groceries.
He does this through a series of how-to YouTube videos.

In an interview, Austin said his mission was prompted by not having enough food to eat at home one day.
He said: "I took my mamma's beans out of the cabinet because we didn't have much to eat. All we had was rice and those bags of beans. It was like a very small bag of beans, not even enough to feed everybody, so I had to make enough."

Austin says his mission was prompted by not having enough food to eat at home one day
Austin decided from that day to start planting beans in the backyard garden in order to harvest more. Soon, it became much more as he cultivated more plants and started sharing his hobby on YouTube.

His efforts have now drawn the attention of his city and he's inspiring a host of other gardeners. Looking into the future, Austin hopes to help end hunger in the world, one seed at a time.
