- Kampala boy who jumped from 6-storey building gets second chance in life

- The lucky boy now works as trainee mechanic at a garage

- He plans to start his own garage soon. But why did he try to end his life?

Mustafa Lule is lucky to be alive! This young boy from Kampala, Uganda, wanted to end his life. He reportedly jumped from the six-storey Mabirizi Complex in Kampala, but miraculously survived.

However, Lule suffered excruciating pain for several months before he could recover. Many even doubted if he was going to live any longer after the deadly fall. But he lived on and apologised for trying to kill himself.

And now, Lule is trying to get his life together. The reason why he wanted to take his life, he said then, was because life was tough. He doesn’t wish to go through the same experience again.

In February this year, Lule was offered an opportunity to learn car repair. Since then, he has been training as mechanic at James Alemi’s garage in Kampala.

“When I started, everything about mechanics sounded like rocket science. But things look simpler now,” he says. “I have learnt a lot from here and hope to someday start my own workshop.”

He reportedly works with other youngsters at the garage. Ameli, Lule’s trainer and boss, says he is determined and has made significant progress.

He is now a mechanic trainee and hopes to start his own garage in near future.

The boy also receives monthly wage, which he uses to pay his own rent and buy food. His future seems brighter now.

Clearly, killing himself was not going to be the solution.
