A young Texas man wanted to surprise his girlfriend Jailyn with a romantic gesture, and bought her a bunch of quaint lavender-colored flowers.

Seeing the flourishing bunch, Jamarcus did not think twice before purchasing them and going directly to Jailyn’s house.

“I was sleeping and he woke me up by knocking on my window,” Jailyn said. She then commented how she started laughing when, upon seeing the “flowers” were actually purple kale, a kind of lettuce.

“I just started laughing so much. After, I hugged and kissed him,” Jailyn chuckled. She decided to share the funny mix up on her Twitter account. My boyfriend brought me this thinking it was a flower but it's lettuce”,”she wrote, ending with lots of laughing emoticons.

It did not take long for her post to go viral, with about 150,000 likes, over 40,000 retweets and hundreds of vivacious comments.

“You get something beautiful to look at and a nice salad when you’re done looking,” someone laughingly posted. The whole mix up became so laughably famous that they were even interviewed on TV.
