A 32-year-old man from San Francisco who suffers from spina bifida turns to body building in efforts to combat his excruciating pain.
Spina bifida, according to the medics, is a neurological condition that is characterised by poor development of the spine due to gap in the spinal column.
Doctors say:“It can lead to weakness or total paralysis of the legs, incontinence and loss of skin sensation around the legs and lower part of the body."
Jose Crisol suffers from this condition, which left him paralysed on both legs and hampered his mobility. The pain was also too much he decided to have both legs amputated.
He said: “I believe amputating my legs was the best decision that I have ever made. It’s made me more mobile and independent."

He also decided to focus more on developing his powerful upper body through weightlifting, which he believes can equally help him combat pain.
Video of him working out in a San Francisco-based gym shows a determined and resilient Crisol pushing through pull ups, rope climbs and dips.
His disability appears to have made him increasingly strong. From the look of things, all he wants is to live a normal life without having to rely on anyone for help.
