Okorocha in major scandal, allegedly prepares son-in-law as next Imo governor

- Mr Uche Onyeagocha, a former member of the House of Representatives and APC member revealed evidence of the allegation

- Onyeagocha accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of grooming his own son-in-law as governor of Imo in 2019

The 2019 election in Imo state is taking a twist with the revelation by a former member of the House of Representatives that Governor Rochas Okorocha is preparing to hand over to his son-in-law

Mr Uche Onyeagocha, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress and revealed that Okorocha was grooming Uche Nwosu, his son-in-law who also doubles as the Chief of Staff (CoS) to take over as governor in 2019.

The Punch reports that Onyeagocha, human rights lawyer, said that was the reason the governor established a movement named Ugwumba Movement and appointed Uche Nwosu to run it.

NAIJ.com reports that Okorocha who is enjoying a second term would hand over in 2019, but Onyeagocha accuses the governor of planning an undemocratic action.

The governor had earlier been quoted as saying: “At no time in the history of the state did any party abdicate its governorship ticket to any zone without a contest from other zones.”

But Onyeagocha dismissed this argument recalling that in 2015, the APC zoned its governorship ticket to Orlu with nobody from Okigwe or Owerri zone contesting for it.

Onyeagocha said: “In fact, the ticket was preserved precisely for Okorocha family; when he went out to contest for the presidency, his son-in-law held the governorship ticket in waiting for him, not because there was no credible person from other zones but it was done in good faith.”

Onyeagocha insisted that Imo people had resolved that Uche Nwosu will not succeed his father-in-law.

“We therefore respectfully urge His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha to discountenance any advice in this direction as nothing but the handiwork of undertakers, enemies and mischief makers who have set out to rubbish his political career.

“We also urge him to focus on his presidential ambition in the interest of Nd’Igbo,” Onyeagocha warned.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported that ex-council chiefs in Anambra state are at variance with Governor Willie Obiano

the former chairmen of local government councils in Anambra, who served between 2014 and 2016, have appealed to the state government to pay their entitlements.

The ex-chairmen of various local governments in the state, threatened not to support him in the next governorship elections in the state if they were not paid.

One of the ex-council chiefs, who pleaded anonymity, made the appeal while speaking with newsmen in Awka on Thursday, May 11.

He said the councils’ chairmen were worried that several weeks after a four-page letter on the issue was sent to Gov Willie Obiano, the state government had not responded.
