Over 258 Nigerians were recently deported from Libya and returned to Nigeria on Thursday, May 11.

One of the deportees identified as Princewill Onyewuchi, spoke with Daily Trust, where he revealed how he was shot in the leg by armed robbers.

According to him, after he was shot and robbed of his valuables, nobody wanted to assist him except for his landlord who eventually took him to the hospital.

Onyewuchi's problems didn't end there, as majority of the hospitals rejected him, save for one which took him in, administered drip and bandaged his wound.

The Imo state indigene was among four returnees who were brought in with some kind of health challenge. He claims the hardship in Nigeria forced him to go in search of greener pastures in Libya.

Onyewuchi came to the conclusion that 'there's no place like home' after his encounter with the robbers which nearly left him crippled.

Narrating his experience, he said:

"On my way coming from work, I met some armed robbers, they shot me down while trying to escape. They took my phone, my money and they left me there. I started shouting and crying for help. There were many Libyans who saw me but they didn’t attend to me. It was my landlord that took me to hospital but all the hospitals they took me to, only one responded".
