Man with four BLIND children makes passionate plea to Edo state governor (photos, video)

NAIJ.com came across the heartfelt plea of a good Samaritan who visited the family of a man who has four visually impaired children somewhere in Edo state.

A man in Edo state has taken it upon himself to try to provide succor to a family with four visually impaired children.

According to the Facebook user Paulinus Okpere who shared their story, the children were born blind and have not been able to get a proper education due to their challenge.

Speaking with the father of the children identified as Mr Peter Odion, he revealed that the children had to drop out of primary school because they couldn't cope.

Mr Okpere proceeded to make a passionate plea to the state governor, Dr Godwin Obaseki, asking him to build a school for the physically challenged.

He wrote:

"Dear Governor Godwin Obaseki,

I want to bring to your notice that there is not a single school for the disabled in the entire Esan North East LGA. The children you see in the video and picture and beautiful children born blind and are not presently in school. Please your Excellency, help build a small school for disabled children in Esan North East and if possible make it boarding school so that the physically challenged can be educated too.

Please forward until it reaches the desk of the Governor."

He also shared another post after they had conducted tests on the children and provided the family with N20,000 to take care of themselves till proper help comes.

He wrote:

"UPDATE ON MY VISIT TO THE FAMILY OF MR PETER ODION WITH FOUR BLIND CHILDREN:

As promised, I travelled to Uromi this morning to see the children and their parents. I discovered that it was really true that they were born blind. According to the parents, they took the children to Otibhorkhai Hospital and Irrua Specialist where all test were concluded and nothing could be traced to the blindness.

The doctors later gave up on them and told them to resort to divine healing. The children were in Okpujie Primary school but could not cope due to their disability and again the school was not designed for the physically challenged. There are also no single school for the physically challenged in Uromi or environs.

The Children named Mercy 9, Meshach 16, Faith 18 and Grace 22 are the blind out of the six children Mr and Mrs Odion Peter have.

I presented to them the sum of N20,000 for family support and with a promise to come back after good Samaritans must have keyed into the mission to help these children and see that despite their disability, they can be educated and given an equal opportunity with their fellow youngsters out there.
