The neighbours who were mostly women, in Hodan location in Wajir, claimed that they could hear Tumbo's voice from the grave.

One woman in particular claimed that the deceased had visited her several times in her dreams.

''An unidentified woman even went further and claimed that Ali had been constantly visiting her in her dreams pleading to be exhumed because, the woman insisted, he was buried while he was alive,'' a local is quoted on Facebook.

On Saturday, April 15, members of the public convinced the family of the deceased to exhume the body to check if he was alive. After the exhumation, residents confirmed Tumbo was dead as his body was already decomposing.

The sub-chief of Hodan location, Samatar, said police are now looking for the people who exhumed the body as it was illegal.

“They are setting a bad precedent and we are not going to allow it. The family was pressured by individuals who make a living out of spreading myths and misconceptions within the community and it’s time to put this to stop.'' The chief is quoted by Kulan Post.
