CRUTECH suspends 16,000 undergraduates after they failed to pay N1.2 billion outstanding school fees (photo)
The Vice Chancellor of Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH) has revealed that about 16,000 undergraduates have been suspended after they failed to pay school fees.
Vice Chancellor Anthony Owan-Enoh made this known after he released a 15-page statement listing the names of the suspended students this Thursday, April 20.
NAIJ.com gathered that the list contained names of the suspended students across all departments in the three campuses in Cross River state.

In the statement, Owan-Enoh said only students who are not in debt or who owe more than a semester’s fee are eligible to stay in school and sit for their exams.

Owan-Enoh said: "Following Senate decision, only students who are not indebted or who owe not more than a semester's fees N37,000 are eligible to sit for the forthcoming examination.”
“Those owing for a session's fees N74,000 and above are by the Senate decision suspended from the University."
He stated that the students owing the school would be given a deadline to pay their outstanding fees before Friday, May 12, 2017.

The VC further added that students can only be readmitted upon reapplication after paying all outstanding fees.
According to the statement, the outstanding fee owed by students stands at N1,291,826,140.
