In a seeming twist of events, the Ahmed Makarfi group of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that was alleged to have approached the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to seek registration for a new party, has made a U-turn.

Last week, reports claimed that Makarfi had approached the INEC to register Advanced People’s Democratic Party (APDP) following the over the one year crisis that has bedeviled the party where his group is locked in a battle of wits with Ali Modu Sheriff.

"We however, acknowledge and recognize the rights of party members to ‎seek alternative platform to actualize their political dreams which is ‎an inalienable right guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal ‎Republic of Nigeria.”
