Despite Senate's rejection, 2 international organizations invite Magu to speak on anti-corruption in London

Ibrahim Magu has been invited to speak and an anti-corruption conference in London
Despite his recent rejection by the Nigerian Senate, over a Department of State Service report on his integrity, the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu has been invited to London to speak on anti-corruption.
The invitation according to EFCC's spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren came days after Senate rejection of his nomination.

Uwujaren said two leading anti-corruption organizations - Transparency International and the Global Witness - has invited Magu to speak at an international conference in London.
The conference which will focus on money laundering and assets recovery will hodl on Tuesday, March 21.

Magu, the EFCC spokesperson said, is expected to deliver a paper on the topic: “Give Us Our Money Back – Nigeria’s Fight Against Corruption: A Critical Conversation”.
Uwujaren said the invitation from the organizations is in recognition of the invaluable role the Magu-led EFCC has played with more than his one year in office.
He said: "It also coincidentally comes a few days after members of the Nigerian Senate chose to overlook the strides achieved by Magu, and instead refused his re-nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari as the substantive chairman of the EFCC."
"The international conference, which is coming on the heels of the 2016 London Anti-Corruption Summit, will focus on the progress of Nigeria’s asset recovery and anti-corruption efforts. It will also feature a panel discussions for “critical exchange of views” between officials and non-government experts from Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
While various international personalities are expected at the conference, the minister of information, Lai Mohammed; the chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay, its secretary Bolaji Owasanoye and Olanrewaju Suraju of the Human and Environmental Development Agenda were also invited.

Magu has been rejected twice by the Nigerian Senate after his nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari as the acting chairman of the EFCC.
The Senate while screening Magu said his integrity to lead the anti-graft agency is in doubt following two contradictory DSS reports on corruption allegation against the anti-corruption czar.
However, Magu, who spoke to some civil society organizations after his rejection said the act by the Senate will not stop him from fighting corruption in Nigeria.
He also encouraged citizens to endeavour and strengthen their fight against corruption wherever they find themselves.
