Police found the body of 23-year-old Lara Nosiru in a 100 meter deep gorge. Police, firefighters and coastguards had been searching for the body of the student for days before they made the horrifying discovery recently.
They believe that Lara’s death was a suicide, following a string of suicides of students since September. Other Bristol students that took their own lives are Daniel Green, 18, Kin Long, 18 and Miranda Williams, 19.
An investigation into the mental wellbeing of the students has been launched after the deaths of three students committed suicide after the beginning of the first term.
A spokesperson for Bristol University stated: "The welfare of our students and staff continues to be our highest priority and it is distressing for all members of the university community that one of our students has died.”
He added: "Following the three student deaths reported in the autumn term, we have increased our student counselling provision. We are also working closely with the Samaritans and other experts to support the university community. We will continue to work with our students to improve our support for their well-being and mental health.”
