How ex-NNPC GMD Yakubu was only unlucky to be caught with $9.8m among Nigeria’s legion of thieves - Balarabe Musa

Former governor of old Kaduna state, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has described Andrew Yakubu, the former group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as unfortunate.

EFCC recently recovered $9.8 million from Andrew Yakubu

A whooping $9.8 million was discovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a house owned by Yakubu, who has reportedly not denied owning the money.

Alhaji Musa said Yakubu was only unlucky as there were many others who have hidden money in parts of the country, but have not been caught.

He added that it is only a revolution can save the country against corruption by politicians and individuals.

Leadership reports that the former governor and politician noted that corruption in Nigeria began in 1966.

He urged Nigerians and communities in the country to shun any of their sons or relatives found to have corruptly enriched himself rather than being praised and celebrated.

He further reportedly asked the judiciary to wake up to its responsibility and save the country in relation to graft.

“The former GMD of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu was only unlucky because from councillor to the presidency, they are all corrupt.

“Governors, senators, House of Representatives members, ministers, presidents, council chairmen and councillors being former or sitting are too corrupt. Only few of them are not corrupt.

“Many corrupt Nigerians today are moving freely and enjoying their loots. Former GMD NNPC is not a lucky person.

“I can tell you corruption started since 1966 in Nigeria by the military. We must go back to 1966 and learn how corruption was very low at that time.

“The judiciary must sit up to handle corrupt cases. I commend President Buhari for trying to clean the judiciary,” he reportedly said.
