Who would be a referee? It is the one job in football that makes even goalkeepers grateful they chose to don the gloves over the whistle.
Mike Dean knows more than most that officiating is a thankless job as he endured a tough evening during Manchester United’s clash with West Ham United on Monday.
The official made a rather indifferent start to 2017 with some extremely questionable decisions that led to claims he was rather over-zealous in some of his calls.
And, as always, Twitter’s judges, jury and executioners were on hand to pass their own, rather critical evaluation of the whistle-blower’s performance.
