Speaking to newsmen at a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre in Bauchi, the former commissioner alleged that he was attacked by the governor’s supporters on Monday, January 2.

Ningi also alleged that he and his supporters had their vehicles vandalised by those he described as thugs of the state government during a meeting in Bauchi state.

He said: “No sooner had I finished my speech than the errant boys started shouting, ‘it is a lie, it is a lie.’ So, immediately, some thugs entered the meeting room with knives, cutlasses and sticks, and smashed all the glasses and windscreens of the vehicles that our visitors brought.”

“They beat my visitors, including the ‘Sarkin Tike’ of Dass. They injured him and vandalised his vehicle parked outside our meeting room.”

Ningi explained that two loyalists of the governor, including a serving councillor who had earlier entered the meeting place, were later joined by thugs who came in with cutlasses, sticks and other weapons and allegedly attacked the people at the meeting.

He regretted that despite stating his reasons for his resignation, the party and the governor were still creating unnecessary acrimony.

Ningi, who stated that he was still in the APC, added that his resignation was in consonance with the change mantra of the APC.

Reacting, the Senior Special Assistant to the Bauchi State Governor on Media and Communication, Sabo Mohammed, said the former commissioner was only making unfounded allegations based on mischief.

According to him, the former commissioner has a history of causing division in any political party he joins.

Ningi who was the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Bauchi State, resigned about two weeks ago giving four major reasons for his resignation.

While addressing journalists at a press conference, he stated that Governor Mohammed Abubakar did not give him an enabling environment to function, alleging that the governor preferred to listen to sycophants rather than members of his executive council.

Ningi also said another reason for his resignation was the governor’s inability to resolve the intra-party crisis rocking the APC in the state.
