I Will Be Banned If I Share My Opinions On English Referees – Diego Costa
Chelsea first choice striker, Diego Costa says he risks being banned if he voices out his true opinion of English Premier League match officials.
The Brazilian-born Spain striker says he would face a big punishment if he were to give his opinion on referees in the league.
He told Onda that he would rather not give his opinions on referees.
He said, “I am not going to give my opinion on English referees because I would get a four or five-game ban if I did.
The 28-year-old was yellow-carded four times in his first six league appearances this season.
He, however, went 10 games without being booked before landing his fifth warning, resulting to him missing Chelsea’s win over Bournemouth.
Costa has received seven suspensions since joining the Stamford Bridge outfit in 2014.
He had earlier complained that officials were more strict with him than with other players.
He had said after narrowly escaping red card in the match against West Ham United, “I’ll be honest, I am targeted here, by the referees, the people… if I do something, it’s totally different than if any other players do.
“It needs to be seen, that people targeted me.
“It’s something I have to deal with and I ask God that these things don’t disturb me and don’t take the sequence of the games from me, which happens sometimes and gives me suspensions.”
