Ekweremadu finally reveals why PDP members are running to APC
- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently meeting to make the party stronger ahead of future elections in Nigeria
- Speaking at one of such meetings of its top members, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu revealed why some members recently jumped to the APC
Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has mocked members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) moving into the All Progressives Congress (APC) and describing them as hungry job-seekers.
According to him, the defectors are not going to the APC to improve Nigeria, but to better their chances of getting contracts and employment.
The Nigerian Tribune reports that the deputy Senate president made the comment at the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the expanded caucus meeting of the PDP in Abuja on Thursday, January 26, 2017.

Recently, top members of the PDP including former Senate President Ken Nnamani and some legislators moved into the APC. Ekweremadu reportedly said those who defected to the APC in the south-eastern part of the country have no electoral value and that this would soon become obvious.
“Recently, we have heard of a number of defections from the PDP to the APC. For me, coming from the south-east, they are doing registration of the APC in the south-east and some people are defecting.
“Also in the National Assembly, some people have left for the APC. But my response to it is, let me start from the south-east, those of my brothers and sisters who are here, they know the electoral value of each and everyone of us.
“We are not going to tell you but those who keep their ears will find out later because we allowed them so that they can get the contracts that they are seeking, we allow them to get the employment they are seeking.
“We want them to see if they can join in the lunch, breakfast or dinner going on in APC. At the appropriate time, we will know who is who in the south-east.
“So, nothing to worry about. We are completely in control in the south-east,” he said adding that those thinking the party was dead would discover soon that it has become stronger.
