Governor Nyesom Wike alleges that INEC connived with APC to print fake result sheets ahead of the Rivers rerun elections.

Governor Nyesom Wike has alleged that security agencies planned to make Rivers state ungovernable during the December 10 Rivers-rerun election for political reasons.

Wike said the security agencies planned to achieve this by causing violence during the poll.

The governor made the accusation during an address to members of the Rivers state traditional rulers council, who paid him a Christmas visit on Tuesday, December 27.

According to Punch, he said the police high command had arrested all his personal police details who accompanied him to stop SARS Commander from rigging the rerun Rivers east senatorial district.

He said: “The security agencies orchestrated plans to cause violence with a view to making the state ungovernable for ulterior motives.

“As I speak with you, all my personal police details, who accompanied me to stop Fakorede from successfully rigging the Rivers East Senatorial District election, have been arrested and detained in Abuja.”

Wike said that the police high command was insisting that the policemen should not have accompanied him to stop the SARS commander, Akin Fakorede.

The governor said he was moved to stop the SARS commander from truncating the election after policemen and soldiers were used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Ikwerre LGA to beat up some PDP agents and force collation officers to concoct results the previous day.

The governor also indicted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of conniving the APC to print fake result sheets ahead of the elections.

He said security agencies carried out violence against many INEC officials during the polls, but that the matter is being concealed from the public.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Services (DSS) has fingered Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike in a plot to use protests to disrupt the peace in Abuja during the festive period.

The Punch reports that the DSS made this revelation in a statement released on Thursday, December 22 by its spokesperson Tony Opuiyo.

According to Opuiyo, the DSS came across the plot during its regular intelligence gathering duties. The protests, he said, were aimed at specific government agencies and were to paint a poor image of the government.
