Man arrested for posing as a woman and duping 33 people (photo)
They say 'everyday is for the thief but one day is for the owner of the house', such is the case of this young man who was recently arrested for impersonating women.
Man who pretends to be a lady on social media arrested for duping people
The young man identified as 22-year-old Falope Oluwole Israel, was recently arrested at a popular club in Ikeja City Mall, by men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, following a tip-off.
Israel who recently held a lavish party at the Hard Rock Cafe in Lekki to celebrate his birthday prior to his arrest, was said to be in the habit of deceiving men on Instagram, while pretending to be a woman named Shayla.
Israel who is a 100 level part time student of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos, said he had been pulling off his scam successfully for about two years before he was apprehended. He also admitted to have duped up to 33 men who sent him different amounts of money, not less than N80,000.

Following reports from his different victims, his Instagram activities came under investigations from the police. who discovered that he used the handle @blackberbiedoll, to deceive his victims, while pretending to be a black American woman.
He also had two Instagram accounts @froshwhite007 and @froshwhite which he used for the same purpose, and was often seen holding conversations 'with himself' on his page using the fake accounts.
One complainant identified as Bernard, said he had transferred N1million to him under the assumption that he was a lady, but had gotten suspicious of the account number Israel had sent to him earlier. He said:
"Weeks later, I got suspicious of the account name Olawole Israel Oluwaseun Falope. I ran a search on Google, and then discovered it was all scam. Immediately, I reported the incident to Instagram and that account was blocked and later suspended to prevent others from falling victim.”
Another victim said he had paid N100,000 to Israel, in a bid to support 'her' imaginary fashion outfit.
Confessing to his crimes, Israel said:
“When I started, much as I pretended to be a lady on phone, some men on the other side didn’t believe me. I then downloaded an app which transformed my voice into that of a lady.
I got several pictures of Shayla, a pretty U.S-based lady on my profile. Since then, men have been disturbing me and calling to request for a date. What I do is that I assess people based on their appearance on IG, add them and thereafter open up conversations with them before I start bringing up all manners of stories in order to dupe them."
An anonymous source said:
"He admitted bleaching his skin to escape the taunting of girls that he was a very ugly guy.”
Na wa o! One has to be careful about who they interact with.
