How Cuadrado’s Departure Helped Victor Moses’ Chelsea Career – Mikel Obi Reveals

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has said that Juan Cuadrado’s transfer to Juventus last summer, helped Victor Moses establish himself in the Chelsea first team.

Moses has become an automatic pick for new manager, Antonio Conte this season, after spending the last three years on loan.

Cuadrado returned to Chelsea in the summer after a season long loan at Juventus and was expected to feature under Conte, but he chose to return to the Serie A champions on a three-year loan deal.

“It was a key moment when (Juan) Cuadrado went back to Juventus. Victor knows that as well,” Mikel Obi told The Standard.‎

“There was a chance Cuadrado would have had the right wing-back role instead, but he wanted to leave Chelsea.

“The situation with Cuadrado made it easier for Victor, but he had already impressed in pre-season.”

Mikel Obi says that Moses, who was recently named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month, is now happier at Stamford Bridge.

“This is the happiest I have seen Victor at the club,” he added.

“You can really notice the change in him at the training ground. Whereas in previous years, he could be a bit quiet, now he is making more jokes and laughing with everyone.”
