BREAKING: Jubilation as PDP floors APC again to get second senatorial seat in Rivers
There is jubilation in parts of Rivers state as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Rivers West senatorial district, Osinachukwu Ideozu, was declared winner after he defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the re-run, Otelemaba Amachree.
Ideozu was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the election that held at the weekend after polling a total of 107,166 votes against Amachree’s 48,898 votes.
Premium Times reports that with this development, the PDP has won two senatorial seats while the APC won one.
While George Sekibo of the PDP won one seat, Magnus Abe of the APC was declared winner of one of the ditricts after beating Olaka Nwogu of PDP.
The report says Ideozu, was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, representing Ahoada West between 1999 and 2003.
He then moved to the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007 to represent Abua-Odual/Ahoada East Federal constituency before becoming the commissioner for Education in the state.
