All hail the heroes: APC sends heart-warming message to troops after capture of Sambisa Forest

- The APC says the capture of the Sambisa Forest is in fulfilment of one of the key promises made by the party to protect the citizenry and effectively secure all Nigerian territory

- The party commends the Nigerian people for the prayers and support offered to the military in the fight against insurgency

Sambisa’s capture a welcome development – APC

The APC commends Nigerians for the prayers and support offered to the military.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the capture of Boko Haram’s last stronghold, Sambisa Forest, as a well-deserved and a welcome development.

The party in a statement on Sunday, December 25, commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and President Muhammadu Buhari on the great success of Operation Lafiya Dole which resulted in the capture of the stronghold of the insurgents on Friday, December 23.

According to the APC national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the victory over the insurgents is in fulfilment of one of the key promises made by the party to protect the citizenry and effectively secure all Nigerian territory.

The party also commended the Nigerian people for the prayers and support offered to the military in the fight against insurgency.

It urged the government to now intensify the on-going efforts at reconstructing and rehabilitating the North East so that displaced persons can return to their peaceful and productive lives.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian federal government has promised to reopen two major roads in Borno, Following the recent raid and ousting of insurgents from the Sambisa forest.

The roads that have been closed due to the insurgency and will now be opened are: Maiduguri-Gubio-Damasak road and the Maiduguri-Mungono-Baga road.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, and Brig.-General Mansir Dan-Ali (Rtd), his counterpart in the ministry of defence, together with some service chiefs, Borno state Governor, Kashim Shetimma and other dignitaries will grace the occasion.
