Child dead, 18 hospitalized as mysterious disease hits Africa (photo/video) A child has died and 18 others have been admitted to hospital in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa on Thursday following a case of mass hysteria. A spokesperson for the Eastern Cape provincial health department, Sizwe Kupelo, said that the child collapsed after having difficulties breathing and doctors declared her dead after she was taken to hospital. Sizwe added that 18 other children were hospitalized because of the incident, which he termed as mass hysteria and hallucination caused by fear.
